Our Mission

Providing Quality Healthcare for All

The Thakershy Charitable Trust was registered on 2nd December 1978 as a Non-Government Organisation and Public Charitable Trust — dedicated to providing services in health and education to persons from all walks of life.

Under the name Sushri Jasumatiben S. Surti Charitable General Hospital, we endeavour to bring the best possible medical services within reach of every person, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

From a single room structure in 1983 to a 30,000 sq. ft. multi-specialty facility today, every expansion has been driven by one principle — compassion before profit.

Our Journey

45 Years of Growth & Healing

1978

Foundation

Thakershy Charitable Trust registered on 2nd December as a Public Charitable Trust under the vision of Shri Navnitbhai Thakershy and Shri Manvendrabhai Patel.

1983

Hospital Opens

Thakershy Trust Hospital established on 15th May on a 2,400 sq. yard plot donated by Shri Jethalal Amrutlal Patel Public Charitable Trust. Started with a single room and a vision.

2000

Renamed & Expanded

Hospital renamed Sushri Jasumatiben S. Surti Charitable General Hospital. Grown from one room to a 30,000 sq. ft. facility across 3 floors with 20+ medical specialties.

2006

Cleft Center Launched

Gujarat Cleft and Craniofacial Research Institute established — offering free cleft lip and palate surgeries to children, supported by NGOs from Germany, UK, and USA.

2020–21

COVID Response

Operated 3 COVID care centers at no charge to the community. Treated 350+ patients with zero casualties. Recognized and approved by AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation).

2023+

New Hospital Project

Reconstruction of a modern 6-floor facility underway — designed by honorary architect Shri Priyank Thakershy — to serve the next generation of patients with even greater capacity.

Cleft & Craniofacial Center

Gujarat Cleft and Craniofacial Research Institute — offering free cleft lip and palate surgeries since April 2006. Led by Dr. Shyam Sheth with 3,500+ consultations/operations to date. Supported by NGOs from Germany, UK, and USA.

Karunalaya Cancer Hospice

10-bed cancer palliative care center for advanced-stage patients — completely free of cost, with preference for the poor and needy. Managed by Shyam Oncology Foundation, supervised by oncologist Dr. Chirag Shah of Apollo Hospital.

Dialysis Center

3 dialysis machines operational at subsidized rates (avg. ₹600 per session). Over 20,000 cumulative dialysis sessions provided. Funded with generous support from Navprakash Charities and P.C. Snehal & Co.

Senior Citizen Home Care

Medical team visits homes of elderly patients who cannot travel. Concessional or free services provided. Supported by Hiramani Welfare Society in memory of Late Shri Jayantilal Bhikhabhai Shah.
